Bronwyn is a highly respected economist and commentator on financial markets and was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2008 for her services to business economics. She joined HSBC as Head of Global Research in 2008 and after successfully improving the quality and visibility of Research, Bronwyn now has a similar brief to build a global News team to position HSBC as the go-to house in areas that are strategic for the bank such as emerging markets and trade.
Previously she was at Bloomberg where she was managing editor and responsible for all their European broadcasting activities. Other roles include Global Head of Currency and Fixed Income Strategy at Deutsche Bank and Chief Economist at Nomura International.
She is Chairman of the Society of Business Economists, on the Council of the London School of Economics, a board member of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, a member of the Advisory Board at Imperial College Business School and on The Times newspaper’s Shadow Monetary Policy Committee. She has also been a Board member of the Office of Fair Trading and a Visiting Professor at City University.
